Our selection of wines includes:
- Casanova di Neri 2013 Brunello di Montalcino – 93 points – “This is focused, with a vivid structure driving the cherry, leather, spice and earth flavors. Dusty tannins follow up, while this remains fresh on the lingering finish. Best from 2020 through 2033.”
- Chateau Grand-Puy Ducasse 2015 Pauillac – 94 points – “This generous, ripe wine is filled with fine tannins as well as juicy black-currant fruits. It is approachable in the sense that the fruit is so delicious. However, watch for those tannins that are firm and dense and will allow the wine to age.”
- Stolpman 2016 Estate Syrah – 92 points
- Talbott 2014 Sleepy Hallow Vineyard Estate Grown Pinot Noir (Saint Lucia Highlands) – 92 points
- Elk Cove 2016 Pinot Noir La Boheme – 92 points
- JL Chave 2016 Mon Couer – 91 points – “Shows impressive power and breadth on the palate, offering rich black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors.”
- GD Vajra 2017 Barbera d’Alba – 92 points – “This is round and juicy, its cherry and blackberry fruit melding seamlessly with the bracing acidity. Flashes of iron and hot stone add depth as this stretches out ending on a peppery accent.”
- Chateau Gloria 2015 Saint Julien – 93 points
- Saint Cosme 2016 Chateauneuf-du-Pape
- Pra 2017 Soave Classico – 90 points – ” A lively, lithe wine, with lovely lime blossom, pink grapefruit sorbet, stone and spice notes that linger on the mouthwatering finish.”
- Rodano Mon Nene 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon IGT – 93 points – “The Rodano estate has grown Cabernet since the 1970’s. The stony and chalky Chianti Classico soil is perfect for cabernet-based wines – these characteristics provide the wine with the elegance of Bordeaux Cabernets, but with fruit similar to some Napa Cabernets – Mon Nene is stylistically in between.”
- Trefethen 2015 Family Owned Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon (Oak Knoll District) – 95 points
- Pieropan 2017 Soave Classico – 92 points – “Gorgeous freshness and liveliness with lemon, lime and mineral aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, yet bright and long.”
- Antica Masseria Primitivo di Manduria DOP – 91 points – “Aged 6 months in large French oak barrels (botti), followed by at least 4 months additional aging in bottle. Inky, tanic and similar to a Zinfandel. Ripe blackberry, mulberry and cherry intermingle with delicate hints of spice and velvety tannins.”
- Silver Oak 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley – 90 points
- Trefethen 2015 Family Owned Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon (Oak Knoll District) – 95 points – “Blended with small amounts of Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot, this is an impressive wine well worthy of the producer’s 50th anniversary. Currant, boysenberry and light handfuls of spice are wrapped in soft polished tannins that offer an elegant length.”
- Brick House 2015 Evelyn’s Pinot Noir (Ribbon Ridge) – 94 points – “This barrel selection is a 50/50 blend of Pommard and Dijon clones, all biodynamically farmed. It’s spicy and complex, with cranberry, orange peel and lemon aromas. Those flavors are in the mix, along with black cherry, clean earth, and a dash of cola and sassafras. A glorious wine, it should be enjoyed now through the late 2020s.”
